We have opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and interests, with a variety of schedules and Lake Minnetonka locations, including virtual opportunities. Lake Minnetonka Historical Society Committee Opportunities:

Collections Committee: ​(Wayzata Research Archives & virtual)

• Collection management
• Artifact/archival material care and maintenance
• Records/photo maintenance/filing
• Scanning
• Cataloging/data entry
• Assisting public with research

Communications Committee: ​

• Maintaining/updating website
• Editing/designing/distributing newsletter
• Managing social media accounts
• Writing/distributing press releases, media relations
• Maintaining mailing database and communications apps

Development Committee:

• Annual fundraising campaign
• Membership/giving acknowledgments and renewals
• ​Record maintenance/data entry
• Giving cultivation/solicitation
• Planned, in-kind, corporate giving
• Grantwriting
• Fundraising events
• Analyzing membership/giving data

Merchandise Committee: (Excelsior, Mound, Wayzata & virtual)

• Order fulfillment
• Inventory maintenance
• New product development
• Marketing to wholesale accounts
• Merchandise sales at LMHS sites and community events
• Analyzing sales figures

Museum Committee: (Deephaven, Excelsior, Minnehaha, Mound, Wayzata, more)

• Museum hosting (Simple training required. Learn more about our Museums HERE.)
• Exhibit planning and creation 
• Creating and conducting Museum tours with Public Programs Committee
• Maintaining museum physical plant and grounds
• Creating and maintaining Excelsior Museum Heritage Garden (Sign up HERE. )
• Working with Minnehaha streetcar boat (limited until operational)
• Creating community displays

​Public Programs: (Excelsior, Mound, Wayzata, more & virtual)

• Developing public programs and history cruises
• Program set up/take down
• Recording public programs
• Creating/conducting public and private walking, museum, cemetery and boat tours.
• Creating and administering youth and adult classes
• Monitoring Little Free Libraries
• Creating history markers

Volunteer Coordination: 

• Recruiting, training, scheduling and supervising volunteers to serve on all committees.
