ViLake Minnetonka has been a hunting, fishing, and gathering area for more than ten thousand years.  Historian and author Paul Maravelas will discuss sites connected with ancient American Indians and the Dakota Indians of the 1800s, including ancient mounds, sacred places, trails, and maple sugar and wild rice camps.

Founded in 1854, four years before Minnesota became a state, Wayzata has a surprisingly colorful history. Starting in 1867, boats met train passengers at the foot of Broadway Avenue, transporting them to various destinations around the lake. Wayzata played a key role in the surge of Lake Minnetonka tourism, much as it does today. Stroll with us on a guided tour and hear fascinating stories about Wayzata’s pioneers and the homes and businesses they built along Lake Street as we explore its past - both distant and more recent! $5.00 advance registration through Wayzata Schools Community Education required.
