H I S T O R Y C R U I S E: Beyond Excelsior - A Different View of the South Shore
View of Lake Minnetonka from the tower of the Lake Park Hotel, Tonka Bay, with Gale Island in the distance, 1880s.
Monday, August 12, 6pm Lady of the Lake Dock, Excelsior
As our cruise on Lady of the Lake departs Excelsior, we will learn about the communities on the south shore who also departed Excelsior. Parts of Deephaven, Greenwood, Orono, Shorewood and Tonka Bay were all once part of a much larger Excelsior Township. They have now become their own cities with distinct histories and personalities. As we cruise their shores, historian Joanie Holst will discuss their early years and who they are today.
